LA Shelter Votes to Feed Vegan Diet, AVMA Debates VCPR, Cat Banned from Library, Portable Dog Bath

In this episode:

1. A St. Paul, Minnesota cat named Max has been banned from the Macalester College library. Appropriate hilarity ensues.

2. A new portable dog bathing device, the Bissell Bark Bath, may have uses in a busy veterinary clinic.

3. The Los Angeles Animal Services Board recently proposed feeding all shelter dogs a vegan (meat-less) diet. What does this mean for a no-kill shelter? The LA County Animal Services Board votes on the issue in December.

4. The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) will debate several important topics in the January 2018 House of Delegates (HOD) meeting in Chicago. On the agenda are evaluation of the current Veterinarian-Client-Patient-Relationship (VCPR) and how veterinary telemedicine and telehealth may affect its interpretation; the definition of non-profit veterinary clinics and whether or not there should be some limits on the services they provide or products they sell; the potential influence of national corporate veterinary companies as veterinary consolidation and corporatization continues at breakneck speed.
